Squirrels are everywhere, and they're on my mind, obviously, since I feel like writing about them in my very first post. Really, they puzzle me, and I would love to get more insight as to what their purpose is, and how they should be labeled. Are they incredibly intelligent creatures, playing with the humankind, or are they just simply as dumb as they seem? I just want to expand on the first option, as one of these guys always manage to cause me to almost crash, whether in my car or on a run.
I've observed squirrels for a while, intrigued by their behavior. Their suicidal dash in front of my car on a daily basis really makes me believe that they have some ties with terrorist groups - the squirrel kind, that is. I've been a witness of a mission carried out successfully, and has become convinced that they live for that purpose. I've watch a youngish squirrel walk slowly toward the middle of the street, aiming perfectly at the large burgundy minivan. I heard some kind of godly invocation. And the little warrior never flinched. He walked himself under the right wheel and that was it. A few squirrels gathered around and cried a few tears, then celebrated the successful mission. That's when I knew.
As I was on my 6 mile run this morning, I pondered on why the fuzzy little rats were trying to scare off cars and pedestrians alike.
Squirrels are not stupid, people, they're taking over the world.
